We share our students’ brilliance with the world.

Everyone deserves high-quality theater education that centers their voices. Young Playwrights’ Theater provides inspiration, tools, and opportunities for young and emerging artists to develop and share their stories. Since 1995 we’ve provided young people across Washington, DC and beyond with performing arts programming that builds their confidence and showcases their self-expression.

Programs

YPT provides young people (ages 8 through 24) with in-school and out-of-school theater and creative writing programs. We prioritize young people who are targeted by systems of oppression, and we also collaborate with people of all ages who are invested in the ways in which theater can transform lives and communities.
