The Summer Playwriting Series provides students with the tools necessary to create and perform their own plays, including lessons in playwriting, acting and design.

Community-Based Young Playwrights’ Theater conducts the Summer Playwriting Series at partner schools, camps and community centers.
Culmination The end of each series culminates with a community sharing of student work for students, friends, and families. Outstanding summer plays may be given staged readings at New Writers Now! or produced as part of YPT’s Annual Express Tour.

 

Recent partner sites for the Summer Playwriting Series include Kelly Miller Middle School, Allen AME Church and Trinidad Recreation Center (in collaboration with CityDance.)

During the Summer of 2008, YPT collaborated with CityDance to provide a combined playwriting/choreography workshop at Trinidad Recreation Center.
